My Brave Little Girl
Well, I underestimated Miss Olivia. She was ready and determined to get her ears pierced, so we went to the mall when I came home from work this afternoon. I've never seen a more brave little girl. She never once even showed a hint of being upset. I was very proud of her. This smile lasted the rest of the night.

Fishing Anyone??
Well, my two kids love going fishing. This tickles both my husband and Dad to death. They love going down to the pond and getting dirty with all the worms and everything. Olivia got a new pole (she graduated from the Barbie pole to a real fishing pole) and she caught the first fish of the day with her new pole. Didn't get a picture of the fish, but did catch a few pics the next day when they went back for more.
Sweet (especially because he was getting Olivia's pole untangled)
Go figure, not a bit scared of a worm... teeth pulling and getting her ears pierced she can't handle too well.
On a side note, Olivia lost her second tooth and Brian pulled it with no problem. Also, we ventured to the Mall on Saturday and Olivia almost got her ears pierced. Almost. I blame Brian, he was joking, talking about how big the ear piercing guns were and the sounds they make. Never allow Dads to go to Claire's and offer any encouragement on ear piercing. Dads have issues about ear piercing; I think it's a sign that their little girls are becoming young ladies. Can't say I blame them too bad...

Happy 6th Birthday Olivia!!
Well, Olivia turned 6 on August 5th. I thought back on that day so long ago and just smiled. I remember the first thing I said to Brian when she was born was "is she okay?". I didn't have as many ultrasounds with her as I did Dalton, so the first thing that ran into my mind is "does she have all her fingers and toes, etc." I will always remember that comment. You never stop worrying as a parent, about what kind of person they will be, how they will do in school, if they know how much you love them even if you have to discipline them. I know that I will still worry about her, just like that first day, but I know that she is growing up in a good church, has a family that loves her with all their heart, some really good friends and a big brother that you can tell adores her, but doesn't like to admit it. I love you Olivia and hope you had a great Birthday!
Olivia invited two friends to her birthday party and to spend the night. This was Olivia's first sleepover (and mine too as a Mommy), so I thought we would start off small. Birthdays have always just been family, literally, so I thought this year we would try something different. Olivia had a blast playing with her friends and spending time with her family. So many cool gifts, too. I miss being a kid.
Enjoy the pics! As you can see in some of them, Dalton crashed the all girl party a few times, but the girls didn't seem to mind too bad!

First Day of School 2010
I can't believe summer is over and my two little ones are starting 1st and 2nd grade. It's unbelievable. They did stop the craziness to give me a good picture this morning. I always try to take some pictures before we get to school, just because I'm usually in a panic rush after we get going. Hope they had fun the first day. I secretly still wanted to cry when I left them. I suppose it never ends.

No Training Wheels
Well, Olivia is on a roll, literally with no training wheels. This was much easier and probably more painful that pulling a tooth (see previous post). The kids were out riding their bikes and I went in the house for a few minutes (literally) and Dalton found a screw driver in our garage and removed Olivia's training wheels. I think he was ready for her to ride like a big girl. Anyway, she tried it and within a couple of days she mastered it. Again, with lots of bruises, but she did it. Why pulling teeth is worse than a bike wreck is beyond me (you'll have to read the next post to fully appreciate that comment). Anyway, here's the two partners in crime. I'm kinda scared what Dalton will decide to take apart next. I'm hiding the screw driver just in case.
It's like Pulling "Teeth"
Well, I have one little girl who is the most stubborn "teeth" puller in the world. This is Olivia's first loose tooth and she's been such a drama queen. I don't know if this happens with all little girls... I hope not. Anyway, we have cried for a whole week (I think all of us, even Dalton) and Olivia was to the point that she refused to let Brian even help her wiggle her tooth. After trying to pull it and it hurt a bit, she was all about pulling it herself and not letting us do anything. It's been brutal. Well, it was finally so loose that I really don't know what was holding it in. I was expecting her to swallow it. Anyway, on Tuesday night after Olivia went to sleep we were wild and crazy and pulled the tooth while she was asleep. She never even flinched. I suppose we should have waited until she pulled it herself, but enough is enough.... Anyway, she was so shocked the next day and will probably want all her teeth pulled this way. Oh, well, if it can be accomplished with no crying, I say try it.
So, here's the result of all that crying. One tiny tooth gone and one happy little girl.

Please Join Me Going Private
Brian has been after me to delete my blog for a long time, but I never knew that you could make it private. I think this is a great idea. I hope anyone that reads (even if you've never commented) please leave me your e-mail address and I'll try to figure out how this "private" thing works. I know that I've gotten to know some of your families through the blogs, even if I've never met you personally, I do know the associations of who you are related to, etc. I enjoy reading your posts. So, if are connected to any of the blogs I am and want to stay aboard, please leave me your email address.... It's so great that I know many of you go to the same type of church and share so many of my christian beliefs. That is one of the main reasons I've wanted to keep my blog, not because I'm great at it, because I love to hear about the simple things in life and the fact that we are all leaning on the good Lord to get us through.
Thanks for making this move everyone, it gave me the perfect reason not to delete my blog.
